The fields of linguistics, languages and cultures run various discussion groups, seminar series, and conferences which draw together staff and students from the various centres and schools.

canberra langfest 2011

From 27 November to 9 December 2011, the city of Canberra, Australia, will be host to, a series of events about language, languages and their relationship with the world, for further details please visit the official website.

Linguistics, Languages & Cultures seminar series (CAP, CASS, RSPAS)

This is a joint School of Language Studies, the Schhool of Culture, History and Language and RSPAS seminar series. This is a monthly seminar series where invited guests present their research. This new seminar series aims at a broad audience: it aims to bring together all scholars from across the university with an interest in language, languages and their cultural matrix. It is the first series to be jointly run by language scholars from CAP and CASS. It is generally followed by drinks. All graduate students (research and coursework) and Honours students are encouraged to attend.

Time: Fridays, 15:30–17:00 (monthly)

Annual Graduate conference

This one-day conference is a joint project by the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) and the College of Asia Pacific (CAP). It is a chance for graduate students studying in the area of linguistics, applied linguistics, and language and culture to present their current research to invited guests, staff, supervisors, and fellow students within a collegial environment. The first conference was held in November 2007.

Biannual staff conference

This one-day conference is a joint project by the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) and the College of Asia Pacific (CAP). It is a chance for staff in the area of linguistics, applied linguistics, and language and culture to present their current research to invited guests, colleagues, and students within a collegial environment. The last conference was held in November 2009.
